WHO Identifies Omicron As New Highly Transmissible COVID-19 ‘Variant of Concern’

The World Health Organization had stated that this new strand of the coronavirus found in the African continent is now a Variant of concern. We already knew that the World Health Organization had been planning to go on a meeting where they will discuss the new Covid variant that was found. They had calmed down and called for an emergency meeting. Well, now, after the meeting, they have come around and told us that the new strand of the coronavirus is now known as the Omicron variant, and this is a matter of concern since they have regarded it as the highly transmissible variant.

This is not a good news at all. We are very much concerned about the matter. The world was finally getting to a point where we knew about battling the coronavirus, but because of mutation, this new variant had been formed, and we do not think that the world is ready for yet another wave of coronavirus Infection.

“The B.1.1.529 variant was first reported to WHO from South Africa on [Nov. 24, 2021]. The epidemiological situation in South Africa has been characterized by three distinct peaks in reported cases, the latest of which was predominantly the delta variant,” The World Health Organization had explained. “In recent weeks, infections have increased steeply, coinciding with the detection of B.1.1.529 variant. The first known confirmed B.1.1.529 infection was from a specimen collected on [Nov. 9, 2021].”

They have also said that this variant had a high chance of a Reinfection to occur and this had not been found in the other variants of concern that we had seen before this. So it does not sound very good, does it. Health officials worldwide are worried, and the governments are taking necessary steps to protect their own countries.

The World Health Organization had planned to look into the matter more obviously, and they are going to keep on studying at the variant. We hope that the worst does not come out of this. That is all for now. If there are any new matter that comes to light, then we will let you know about it.
