“The new Covid-19 variant that has been found and named as “mu” is not an immediate threat to the United States,” said the federal health officials on Thursday.
“We are paying attention to it, and we are very careful we are also taking everything like that seriously, but we have come to a conclusion and we do not consider it an immediate threat right now,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci said at a press briefing who is the white house medical chief advisor.
Now if you do not know what the new coronavirus stand or variant is then we will tell you. The name of the new coronavirus strand has been given as Mu. This is also known by scientists as B.1.621. It had been tested and observed and it was added to the WHO’s list of variants “of interest” on Monday. This caused a lot of panic among the people who read the news since it is said that this variant might even be resistant to the virus that we have now.
“This variant is a bit different. It has a constellation of mutations, this is not a good sign because that suggests that it would evade certain antibodies and that does not mean only the monoclonal antibodies, but they will also probably evade vaccine- and convalescent serum-induced antibodies,” Fauci said to the media “But there is not a whole lot of clinical data that is available to suggest that, the data that do have suggested this it is mostly laboratory in-vitro data.”
The fact that the vaccine is our only line of defense and that it is highly possible that any moment the new variant can undo the work of years then it is bound to scare everyone among the people. So people need to be careful and they need to keep up to date with the news about the coronavirus. This helps in better preparation if something is about to happen. Ignorance is bliss but in order to survive, you need to keep up with the changing environment. If there are any further updates then we will bring that to you. Keep an eye out.
