Child Obesity Increased During Covid 19, Says Study

There has been a new study that was recently conducted and it had been found that the child obesity rates have increased a lot during the pandemic. Obesity is not a good thing, whether in a child or an adult but having obesity as a child can affect the growing body of a kid. It can also pre-set some major diseases from an early age. In no way is this taken as good news and it should not be taken lightly too. The study conducted showed how the pandemic had triggered this or brought this about.

The study has been published on Friday in the Journal of the America Medical Association (JAMA) Network. If you are interested in reading the study then you can obviously look it up. It is there on the internet and available for all. The study had found that “youths gained more weight during the COVID-19 pandemic than before it.”

Child Obesity Increased During Covid 19 Study

The change has been occurring among a wide range of people but it had mostly occurred among children who are between the ages of 5 through 11 years old, children that do have to be within that range are seen as a Body Mass Index (BMI) increase of 1.57. It had also been found that the prevalence of obesity had increased from 36.2% to 45.7%.

Many people think that it is just baby fat that will go away in the future or as time pass but that is not true. Obesity is not baby fat. It will not go away in the future automatically if the appropriate measures are not taken. This is why it is so harmful and dangerous for children. No one who is not a medical expert can tell the difference at first glance but they are two different kinds of fats. That is all for today.
